I adore making jewelry from lampwork beads. Absoluely adore it. I've been involved in jewelry since I was 15, did the GIA thing about 5 years ago when I realized that jewelry and gems were an inescapable career and I finally found my niche when I bought a mixed lot of beads that contained a few lampwork beads.
Now I'm hopelessly addicted to lampwork beads, creating jewelry using the beads and sterling silver, fine silver and karat gold wire and teaching my kids the techniques I learned by watching my Mom do macramé, crocheting and other crafts when I was a kid. She taught them all to me and I've incorporated them into my jewelry.

My jewelry is Bent, Warped & Twisted - just like me ;) Please excuse the state of my website, it's still under construction. Between three kids out of school for the summer, two insane cats and a hopelessly neurotic Beagle (nevermind making jewelry!) things have been just a LITTLE bit hectic around here, LOL!).
I DID finally get around to putting a few pieces in the marketplace here and some in my eCrater eStore, a few pieces have gone to NYC with my father to one of his conventions (he's in the counseling field and thought promoting a jewelry line called "Bent, Warped & Twisted" to his colleagues would just be a hoot and a half because they'd at least be able to remember the name!) and in the ultimate irony there seems to be more interest in the crocheted silver pieces my teenage daughter does than the avant-garde pieces I've been making. At least I can say I taught her how to do it, LOL!
I LOVE WORKING WITH LAMPWORK. It's not just a love, it's therapy. Take my word for it, I know all about therapy. I grew up around post-grad students in my Dad's doctoral program, got sent to therapists when I was an angsty teenager and gave more than a few of them meltdowns of their own since I learned all their tricks when I was in diapers ;) Marrying my love of jewelry with the art of lampwork glass and wire work is better than all the psychotherapy I've had in my entire life COMBINED. It's also something I can do with ALL of my kids that really makes our family time especially fun, and it fosters the importance of crafting and artistic expression in them in a time when an appreciation for true quality work and attention to details seems to be falling by the wayside. When they see the work that goesw into it they have a much deeper appreciation for it!
I try REALLY hard to give props to the glass artists who make the beads that I use in the pieces I make and put in my gallery but if you recognize your beads in my work and for some reason I had oatmeal for brains when I did the writeup and didn't acknowledge you PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I believe in giving credit where it's due and I couldn't make a bead out of Play-Doh and I'm not going to let anyone think I made these beautiful glass jewels that permit ME to put them in pieces of jewelry. I'm very fortunate to have had just the right beads tell me to come and get them, it's a moral imperative that I give their creators the proper respect!
